FAQs
Is Bump Plus an Australian company?
Through and through, we are proudly Australian manufactured, owned and operated.
Why do you use activated folate instead of folic acid?
A staggering 1 in 3 of us has a malfunctioning methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene, which is responsible for the conversion of synthetic folic acid into the active form of folate we can use.
Sadly, many prenatals still only use folic acid, causing many of us to miss out on one of the biggest players in a successful pregnancy and healthy baby - yikes!
We use Quatrefolic®, a type of activated folate structurally identical to the reduced and active form of folate found in food. This means your body can use it immediately without any need for complex conversions or metabolisation. No brainer, right! Read up on the MTHRF gene and importance of activated folate on our Resources page.
When should I start a prenatal?
It is recommended to start taking Bump Plus Preconception, Pregnancy & Breastfeeding three months prior to trying for a baby.
If your little bundle is already on their way, you should start as soon as you can.
How do I take the prenatal?
Two capsules per day with food, or as directed by your healthcare professional.
Ideally to be taken at a time separate from any iron supplements to maximise the absorption of all ingredients.
Sick as a dog? We feel you Mumma! Try opening the capsules and pouring the contents into your smoothie or juice
Does it contain Lactose? Gluten? Animal products? Any other unwanted surprises?
No, no and no.
We are vegan friendly and gluten, lactose, nut and dairy free. We have kept things as natural and simple as possible.
Should I take this after birthing my baby?
Recent studies indicate that continuing to take a strong prenatal containing vitamin D, iodine and folate while breastfeeding can support baby’s brain development, processing skills and visual acuity.
Studies also show a daily dose of vitamin D is essential to avoid deficiency in you and your bubba.
